Wow thats pretty crazy. I will not put my daughter through that torture. I bought a Carpenters signed vinyl and 100% sure about 3 of the 4 signatures but I ran out of resources for Karen Carpenter. Im stuck going through JSA for their opinion before time runs out to get my money back on ebay if it turns out bad. Kinda out of options. I appreciate the info. Im sure my daughter does as well even though she doesn't know it haha
I'm not worried about how long the certificate takes but they did tell you on spot that those items passed correct?
Well sort of but not exactly lol, they told me that everything had passed including the Michelle Obama’s but when the certificates came back that’s when I found out they changed their mind on those two. And the wait really wasn’t that bad because they let me leave and come back so I just went and had lunch and came back
Oh wow that could really mess this all up if they did that to me. I think I confused your previous message and had to re-read (ive been out of it the last few days). The 2.5 hours wait was when you went for lunch while they made their decision? How long did you stand in line? If the line moved fast, I might still take my wife and daughter. They wont mind as much if we can leave and come back
Well like I said, I paid for the VIP last time so got in an hour early and there was only a handful of people in front of me, so got through the line pretty quick to drop the stuff off. And I’d ask to make sure it’s the same with your show but they said I could leave and come back in as long as I had the wristband on, and yes when they said it would be around two hours or so that Is when I left for lunch. Actually I just remembered that when I came back from lunch there was a bit of a line and wait to get back in. I think it was maxed out inside so they were only letting as many people in as the ones leaving. A bit of a pain but it was a fun experience overall.
I wonder which show you went to. I went yesterday to a small card show in St Louis. Machinist Hall.. spent $3 to get in and the JSA table was right there. I didnt even go in to look at the card show. Great time saver and it was completely empty. These small card shows are the way to do it. Ill never go back to the large conventions for authenticating after seeing the huge line in Rosemont IL They also took only 1 hour but said its quicker when stickers are placed in the LOA.
If JSA does deem this as secretarial, id take it with a grain of salt. Similar to when no one would pass the Elton Lockdown signatures at 1st. Also Sammy Hagar, Gwen Stefani and many others. It may be a case where Santana may have changed his style up a bit and JSAs database isn't updated with a new variation. I haven't researched santana yet myself but agree they do seem slightly different. Honestly, he's done these sit down bulk signings before and there was no previous variation. We are all going to have to look into this more as a community. Thanks for taking this 1st step. Hopefully you will end up with some good news anyways. Keep us posted
I didnt go for Santana. Just some personal items in my collection here if anyone is interested, I posted pictures at the bottom (not for sale) continue reading for some good info about a certain TPA everyone should be aware of

Sure it means a lot and appreciate you sharing the end result of these as I honestly think they are bad compared to the way he usually signs . His Signature has usually always been consistent with no changes that I have seen or know of over the years . Looks like TSL will have another s*** show on there hands if these end up as bad .
Yeah so they didn’t fail them but he said they were inconclusive, but leaning secretarial. He did say to hold on to them in case anything changes with more examples and time. The fact that I’ve seen people in several places say that the signature seems off doesn’t give me confidence but hopefully they turn out ok. I also took one of the Jennifer Lopez vinyls with the signed insert and that one was also inconclusive. On the good side my lady Gaga came back authentic, I was able to use up the $150 credit I had and leaving with another $50 credit now. I figured out that they still charge you if the fail, but credit you back if it’s inconclusive. Oh and the show I was at was the Front Row card show in Tacoma, Wa.
Thanks Joel for sharing your insight with the group and your experience with getting the Santana cd authenticated . My guess others will start to look at these a lot closer and maybe get them authenticated . I am leaning toward a big NO as far as real as I have a few other Santana Signatures obtained IP and these TSL cds do not look comparable to what I have from Carlos
Inconclusive it's the worst.. The so called pros can't do the one job they are supposed to... with as much money they make, they should have connections and reach out to celebrity management to have all this figured out with newer bulk releases. Thinking about this more, that would actually be an awesome idea to curb autopens and secretarial signatures in the future. Ah but if we knew about it, no one would need their service, so they probably love random secretarial and autopen releases. Gives them job security.
Why do you only get credit back? Id think they should refund cash... you are then screwed holding an item, unsure of their authenticity, wondering if you should fight for a refund from the retailer. Double edged sword.
I also wonder how PSA handled the Elton Lockdown inserts they failed at first. Still took money from people and then decided to start passing them a few months later. Pretty bogus if they didn't offer reauthentication at least.. and here I am also doing business with TPAs.. Rant over haha.
Anyways, I had a nice little adventure this weekend heading down there. Overall its still a memorable experience and these are moments I live for. Glad they OK'ed the Gaga for you. Nice feel good moment I'm sure, and thanks for trying with these Santana signatures. Nothing came of it for this release, but could factor in how people see TPAs overall going forward. I was just wondering if by chance we were both heading to the same show.. Still good to know 2 different smaller card shows offer quicker service. Honestly, the amount of time people must have wasted in Rosemont for the same service is just crazy. I was only there for Chevy Chase and JSA was right next to his table. People in that long line did not look too happy
Here's a question I have for you guys. IF....the Santana comes back as bad or secretarial or whatever....I think you should not only get a refund on said item, but the company you got them from should pay what you paid for authentication. I'm sure there is no way they'd do that, unless you guys had a class action lawsuit, but it would be worth it.
I'll give you an example of something I did, and can't believe it worked. About 25 years ago, I bought a signed promo photo of The Doors, for $750 from Legends & Heroes (before I know about Byron Ross, or whatever his name was). He told me the photo was acquired from the drummer of the Damn Yankees, who had come in to buy some items or some such thing. The signatures all looked PERFECT, as I really know the bands signatures well. So, I went and had the thing framed. It cost me $95 to get this frame, have the matt sized up and it looked beautiful. Well, as someone in the media, I was able to get an interview with the Damn Yankees (and Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer). I did a story on him in Autograph Magazine about his autograph collection. Guesss what? He told me he NEVER had a signed Doors photo and if he did, would never give it up. I went back to Ross and said "You're going to refund me the $750 AND the $95 I spent on the frame." He said he would, and said it might have been this other drummer he got it from, and said he'd have no problem selling it again, as it was real. He refunded me the money AND all the postage I paid.
