CLOTHING AUCTION RESULTS -- Judy Garland, Steve McQueen, Marilyn Monroe duds

Does this dress make my…wallet look fat? Well, it does for the person that ponied up the $480,000 to buy the blue gingham dress that Judy Garland walked down the yellow brick road in The Wizard of Oz.

It’s a bit faded now, but not enough to warrant the half a million somebody plunked down.

Julien’s Auctions said it was the highest price of any item during the two-day Hollywood memorabilia auction in Beverly Hills.

I would’ve rather had the Steve McQueen racing jacket. It sold for $50,000. That’s the same price somebody paid for a purple skirt Marilyn Monroe wore while filming River of No Return. Poor Julie Andrews. She’s the one star that’s alive, and had to see the dress she wore in Sound of Music didn’t make the cash registers sing as much. It sold for a mere $38,400.

With that blue dress of Garlands commanding so much money – and the sex scandal with General David Petreus – I’m guessing the market is ripe for Monica Lewinsky to sell her blue dress. That would easily fetch a cool million.

I hope Monica has it dry cleaned first.
