I have a ball that was signed by the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers. I had the ball appraised by a reputable company and their appraisal was club house ball. I had never heard of that term but now understand about it. I was very much disappointed but that's life.
I'm asked often if Jackie Robinson is on the ball. "No". I started thinking... If it's a clubhouse ball, whether Jackie Robinson was at the meeting where the ball was signed or not, wouldn't his "stand-in" have signed the ball anyway? I can understand that if Mr. Robinson was not at the meeting of course he would not have signed the ball. But if the signatures were done by "stand-ins", why not sign the ball for Mr. Robinson anyway? Who would know?
