I am defiantly a beginner collector, but am diving headlong into collecting rock autographs of my favorite artists/bands. Basically, I will have a game room shortly with nothing to put on the walls.
The problem I have been running into is that I simply don't like the art that many "for sale" autographs are attached to. I'm pretty picky in this regard I suppose.
My first two autographs came from autograph hounds. Both passed Epperson authentication. I asked one of the hounds if he could get autographs of certain rock stars upon request... as in, on an item of my choice. I sent him the list of who I was interested in and he said most wouldn't be a problem, but a few of them he said he either couldn't get or his asking price was out of my budget.
I asked Epperson about this guy and he had a very favorable opinion of him. Apparently he only sells stuff he gets himself or witnesses being signed, and has no reputation for fraud.
At any rate... what do you guys think about contracting an autograph hound for signatures? Do any of you have any experience with such an arrangement? Any advice?
Thanks in advance!
