See the 'J Morrison' centre top of the photo below, which I have pasted  above a sample of his handwriting. Anyone think the 'J Morrison' at the top looks similar to the handwriting below it?

The 'signature' is from a 1st edition hardback copy of Jim Morrison's The Lords and the New Creatures, published by Simon & Schuster in 1969/1970. I just photo'd it and pasted it above this handwriting sample for comparison purposes.

It has been quite a while since you purchased the book, but have you considered asking for a refund? Ask the seller why there are three "R"s in "Morrison".

Yes, you would think that the forger would not only have practised faking Morrison's signature a hell of a lot more times before attempting to sign a 1st edition book in immaculate condition, but also make it look like Morrison's usual signature. I wonder what he was he thinking?

Here's another one with some similar characteristics, also fake in my opinion. They did get the number of "R"s correct.

Here are two real examples of Morrison's signature in books.

I see what you mean about this one. Even the pen has left similar scratchy marks. I did hear somewhere that Jim's secretary, Kathy Lisciandro, did quite a lot of signings for him at the Doors office, but I don't know if its true.

Here is the second real example of his signature in a book.

That Morrison handwritten signature looks an awful lot like Craig Graham's handwriting in that letter that accompanied it. Just saying

Some of the letter e's are identical. Good spot.

Which 'e's are you referring to? There aren't any in Morrison's signature ;-)

Yes but there are e's in the poem and the letter written to you by the seller. And those e's sure look similar. Along with a few other oddities which I see in both which are similar.

I thought that also!

Whoever attempted this autograph should be shot because he kinda ruined an extremely rare book and apparently put no effort into how he signs or even writes for that matter. All of Jim's O's usually tuck under the following letter or are at least closed. The first O is way off the way it's done, and not to mention the M whose 2nd loop is way smaller than the first loop, and oh yeah the 3rd R!!! P.S. (the top of the S is too curved and loopy). If you can overlook the chicken scratch somebody did,you should keep it for it's condition and because it's rare and a fascinating book.hope you didn't pay too much for it…..Cheers.
