See the 'J Morrison' centre top of the photo below, which I have pasted  above a sample of his handwriting. Anyone think the 'J Morrison' at the top looks similar to the handwriting below it?

The 'signature' is from a 1st edition hardback copy of Jim Morrison's The Lords and the New Creatures, published by Simon & Schuster in 1969/1970. I just photo'd it and pasted it above this handwriting sample for comparison purposes.

I agree. $2,000 is well below the resale value of a signed copy of this book.

I think that's a sensible suggestion, Ian.

Interesting observation, but I don't think it's the case for signed copies of An Amercan Prayer or The New Creatures

An authentic signed by Jim copy of The New Creatures sold for $7000.- on June 24 2014 at Sotheby's…..

Unfortunately, I can't agree that the 'JMorrison' looks anything like the handwriting in the note sent to me from Vagabond Books. The 'JMorrison' may not have be written by Jim, who wrote the poetry directly below it, but I don't see similarities in the 'JMorrison' and the note from Vagabond Books at all.

there are some thing we are never meant to know i guess...

That's kind of what I think Bill, too. But I do wonder, am I the only person that thinks that ALL the writing in my beginning post looks as if it might have been done by the same hand?

For all the various people who have contributed to this discussion, only one person has actually commented on that - and they disagree that the 'JMorrison' at the top, looks anything like the written poem below it. I certainly think there is more of a resemblance between those two specimens than there is between Jim's poem and the handwritten letter I got from Vagabond Books!  I consider myself to have a keen visual awareness as art and design is my background! :-)

The J and the M look like the start of a Monroe autograph

didn't know there was a j in a monroe autograph....

If this company who sold this is so legit and so sure this is authentic they should offer a refund instantly upon asking. But we all know how this ends considering its a forgery.

The seller is offering this book on Bay as an "Authentic Signed Michael Jackson 1ST in DJ. Moon Walk." The book actually contains an autopen signature.

So what you are saying is this book dealer in fact has no idea what they are selling.... Amazing isnt it.
