I may be completely off base with this but, does this Stephen King look right to you?
I'm not questioning the form or shape of the signature, because I think that looks good. I'm wondering about the density or the continuity of the ink. Many of the upstrokes seem to be quite light and several of them have little white lines where the ink wasn't covering as you would expect the ink from a pen stroke to cover (eg: the beginning point of the capital "S" upstroke and the upstroke for the first lower case "e" in "Stephen"). I'm wondering if this could be a stamp of some kind or perhaps it's a legit signature but his pen was running low on ink.
Any thoughts?

This looks like your typical ballpoint pen signature. The light and dark areas are caused by the speed, pressure, slant and ink build up on the nib. You want it to look this way.

Thanks Robert. I was comparing it to a legit King I have in my collection. I guess the answer would be that mine wasn't signed in ballpoint but rather some other type of pen with better ink flow. Appreciate the input.

This second example looks like a fine tip marker. I believe it's best to use ballpoint In a book. Comparing the two signatures I noticed both Have speed and a lighter pen pressure on the upstroke off the N in Stephen. Just something I noticed
I took a second look and noticed how the pen pressure throughout the loop off the n in Stephen is almost identical in both examples.

Rick, Looks fine to me and as Robert says that's how it should look. +1.

Mike.

It's a hobby fraught with traps (autopens, secretarials, pre-printed, etc . . .) and I've been smoked once or twice. So, now when in doubt I ask questions. It's how I learn.
Thanks for your input.

That's what Autograph Live is all about, Rick. Ask away.
