eBay seller lock-em-up-bob continues to sell awful home-made forgeries on eBay. Over 5,000+ junk forgeries scribbled on cheap base cards from the 80s.
Back in March, lock-em-up-bob was starting to say this was his "Final go around", and had the following (hilarious) description in his auctions, this is from one of many, many Don Mattingly forgeries he has sold:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DON-MATTINGLY-autograph-1992-TOPPS-set-sign...
"I JUST WANTED TO THANK EVERYONE WHO OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS THAT HAVE WON MANY OF MY AUCTIONS... I WANTED EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT THIS WILL BE MY "LAST" GO ROUND PER-SET WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE MONTHS... WHATEVER IS LEFT OVER AT THE END WILL BE SOLD IN GIANT LOTS.. AGAIN THANK YOU TO EVERYONE, HAPPY COLLECTING"
Aka: "Thank you for making me rich off of scribbling on all my old 80's base cards from the Junk Era"
Here we are 2 months later, and due to greed, (and how easy it is to commit fraud on eBay), lock-em-up-bob continues to sell forgeries. Here is yet another Don Mattingly forgery (which he is trying to adapt, and it's still bad), but take a look at the new descriptions:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DON-MATTINGLY-autograph-1986-TOPPS-set-sign...
Here is the current description:
"I WAS HOPING TO BE DONE BUT I'M LEFT WITH AROUND 1,500 MORE CARDS THAT DID'T SELL OR WERE NOT PAID FOR... SO I'M DOING ONE FINAL ROUND PER SET ONE NIGHT ONLY AND WILL NOT BE RELISTING ANY CARDS FROM HERE ON IN... WHATEVER DOES NOT SELL THIS TIME WILL BE SOLD IN A LOT."
AKA: "I have 1,500 more worthless base cards laying around, so I might as well scribble on them and sell them to you morons and make even more free money." Absolutely sickening that eBay has allowed this master forger to survive for so long. These people should be in prison. |

I'm in! I'd like to see that list of forgers on ebay because there are a-plenty. Thanks!
This was sent to ebay at their request over 2 weeks ago. No action was taken on any of the sellers. This was also sent to the attorney general of PA and the FBI Philadelphia office.

Appreciate the list. Yes "Peppercia" has had an endless supply of signed Clayton Kershaw, Mike Schmidt, Greg Maddux, Sammy Sosa, Ryne Sandberg, Roger Clemens, Yaz, Johnny Bench and Tony Perez signed cards. I reached out to them for further detail about how they obtained all these signatures and this is their response:
"Hi thanks for your interest. I’ve obtained them through the mail and through purchases. I’ve been collecting autographs for about 15 years and I send out probably thousands of letters a year. In my opinion they seem to be authentic and compare well to authenticated examples, but I’m just not the type of collector that pays for 3rd party services such as JSA and BAS."

I don't waste my time emailing any of these criminals. I flag every item I can. I file complaints with the attorney general and I send emails to the media. Eventually something will stick. This is just a list of the most active criminals on ebay right now. There are obviously many more. I have been in talks with people from PSA and Beckett and they both want to do something about the fraud.
I applaud your efforts and hopefully someday these guys are brought to justice for what they're doing. There's got to be some sort of penalty in order to dissuade them.
I bought a cheap signed card, sent it to Beckett, they texted me and asked if I was kidding. I left negative feedback saying "Beckett returned the card as not authentic." Within 2 days the feedback was removed. All of the negative feedbacks I have left for these 2 guys have been removed. I have 3 ebay accounts.
This is nothing new, I conducted research on Ebay on UK sellers who sell fake autographs during 2018/19. This list was compiled over a 6 month study. The fraudsters (many using fake addresses and using multiple accounts) operating on Ebay, are literally protected by them, they do nothing with any report and they ignore any complaint into criminal activity on their site. I also studied the trends they use and the sales techniques. No one was interested, especially Ebay, and PayPal blame Ebay for this problem. 100s (sometimes 1000s) of fake autographs (with the multiple signed sports shirts/items) slip into circulation weekly.
UK FRAUDULANT AUTOGRAPH SELLERS:
The first 12 are career fraudsters who have maybe 50+ fake accounts operating simultaneously selling worthless fakes:
This is the balance of the list, which is just the tip of the iceberg. The American list is still in progress and is off the scale so far:
Wow! This makes me sick. I'd be very interested in seeing the American list once it's complete. I can't imagine trying to deceive people out of money like these criminals do and be able to sleep at night.
Thanks for the list, really useful. A couple I was considering buying from before reading. Is Gained-inperson-graphs the same company as In-person-autographs?
Thanks
All his autographs are fake. He has really stepped it up lately and he is signing rare deceased players. One of his fakes sold for $1500 recently. "Gained In Person" means the ink is still wet.
