I asked about this photo a while back but didn’t get much feedback.

Bought this Eddie Vedder 8x10 on eBay for a too good to be true price ($120.00). It had only been listed for a few minutes when I grabbed it as a Buy It Now because I saw it seemed to compare very favorably next to a PSADNA exemplar.

I thought the signature looked right as long as it wasn’t a preprinted autograph. When I received the photo, it was clear it was live ink so no issues there.

Do you guys think this is authentic or perhaps just a really good fake?

PSA DNA exemplar is the white example

Based on the JSA half numeral increment -2 to +2 scale with -2 being no way and +2 being witnessed in person, if I were a JSA grader I'd give at least +1. Well done, Geoff!

Thanks!

Those appear by different hands. I would be very concerned about the obvious - the photo was copied from the PSA exemplar. Way too close for comfort and something we have seen done before.

"on eBay for a too good to be true price ($120.00)" - red flag flying.

Geoff, it must have been some time ago - I looked for it and didn't see it.

It was a 3 years ago and yes I am concerned someone used the exemplar as a guide as it was easily accessible

Thanks for your opinion. The price was $118. I found the confirmation email. Seller was slaneyenterprises and they don’t appear to be a seller anymore which is also a big red flag.

I think there are enough concerns that it looks like I got duped.

Most welcome. I think so. Sorry.

I will say if this was copied from the exemplar, the forger did a heck of a job keeping all the letters level and it doesn’t look shaky to me. It looks like it has flow and was signed quickly. Do you disagree?

I fully disagree. It is a very poor copy. The forger had no understanding of the "d"'s in "Vedder" for one. It may well have been traced from a print out, but terribly. No natural flow, connections wrong, formations wrong, relationships wrong. Parts are meaningless.

I think it looks good, but since Eric is way better at verifying authenticity than me you'd be well advised to be skeptical. I will say that if forged, it was done by someone who's quite talented.

I sent it to Roger Epperson when i first bought it and he said it “looks fine” but I didn’t include the exemplar with it.

Doing a little research it doesn’t seem very common for Eddie to connect the E and d like he did in the PSADNA exemplar, that was atypical. So that’s another thing worth pointing out against it.

Since I didn’t see it get signed myself and I bought it about $150 to $200 below market rate from a seller that doesn’t seem to exist anymore, that’s all the evidence that is needed that this is no good.

I thank you both for taking the time to respond and offer opinions

Most welcome. Only so much can be gleaned from a scan in a quick opinion.

I've gotten him before and the E looks clown fake. I'd pass.
