Hi everybody,

what do you people think of this Eric Clapton?

Said to be obtained in Person in June 2008 in Nottingham by Nick Straw from "Lights Camera Action" in UK, but for sale from another person.

Does it have a chance to be authentic?

Mikex - I am giving you my opinion. I have met and toured with Clapton a few times. I have a number of in person items, including my Fender Telecaster, which Eric signed specially for me.

I am not guessing at all, and I always give my honest opinion. Kindly refrain from your sarcastic comments. Nobody here appreciates flippant comments. We are all here to try and help.

If you are happy with your purchase then good day!

No one is being flippant FYI.

When I'm not certain about an autograph I say I don't know. I tend to make comments on autographs I'm very familiar with.

I am certain about autographs I give my opinions on. Please don’t state that I am guessing, when you clearly don’t know anything about me.

Talk me through the RR examples and the second one. I'm not being sarcastic.

I've known Nick Straw for about five years and can testify he doesn't tell lies. I would imagine many on this forum have purchased from him in the past and can also testify that he is an honest individual. There's a big difference between lying about an item and unknowingly selling a fake.

What you are saying is IYO he didn't get it signed by Eric Clapton personally, therefore he's lying.

The second example was thought to be authentic by Steve Crykin. ALL those other examples were recently sold by RR auction, and, therefore authenticated by RE. As you can see his signature is all over the place. If these these were posted without knowing the source, most people would say "not real"

I'm not sure if Nick is a member of this site as I'm sure he would like to respond.

By the briefness of the answers non of you are experts.

No one has called anyone a liar. Just rendering our opinion. Opinions vary. I've seen many autographs gotten on the street that are atypical. Many do not have a chance of getting certified by a TPA. That doesn't make the person who obtained them a liar. They may well be authentic just unverifiable.

Personally, I would seek an earlier Clapton signature which is much more easier to authenticate.

It all comes down to a collector's personal level of comfort. To each their own.

If in your opinion the autograph is not authentic then Nick Straw didn't get it signed by Eric Clapton. So is Nick mistaken or is he lying.

If it's not authentic then by default he is lying as he has said he went to the concert and got it signed personally by Eric Clapton. You either agree or disagree with that statement. He can't be telling the truth and the autograph is fake.

Noone has mentioned the second image and the ones sold by RR. Wonder why?

It's not about Nick. For example, K9 Autographs is a well known New York street grapher with an outstanding reputation but not every autograph he has will pass a TPA. Does that make him a liar? No.

The autograph that started this discussion is atypical, IMO. Will it pass a TPA? Who knows. I would not buy it from Nick, RR Auction, or any other service. But, that is me. What others decide is up to them.

This is not about a seller. It's about our opinion about a specific autograph. Nothing more, nothing less. That and a few dollars with get someone a cup of coffee.

It is about the seller. If I message Nick and mention this thread and ask for a refund, what do you think he will say?

He told me he obtained it personally. He has no reason to lie as his items sell for top prices

Don't care what he would say. It's our opinion. It depends on his return policy and guarantee. That's between him and his buyer. We are not PSA, JSA, or any other service. People ask we try to assist. I would say overall we help more than hurt. This is not a hobby for the faint of heart and NOBODY is perfect.

I have no intention of getting a refund. I personally didn't ask for an opinion as I think it's authentic.

No one has responded to the second image and the RR items. I usually only give an opinion if I know the autograph well and have done extensive research.

As long as you are happy then all is well.
