I was thinking, if we don't have it already, to create an exemplar database in which all members could go to for examples of signatures to avoid getting scammed or to compare their autographs with a database full of real autographs.  I have a ton of exemplars of football and some baseball autos and if this idea gets some acknowledgement I will organize them into a search engine database.  -Mike

any ideas?

Love the idea. It's on our to-do list but I could use someone to spearhead the project in each area of interest. Let's do it!
alright steve i got a ton of football exemplars so i guess ill try to tackle that area.  wow that was phony

This database and other authentication references have been in our plans for a while, and I'm thrilled to have members like you push me to get it done. The database won't just have autographs considered genuine, but forgeries, too.

I'd like collectors to have the ability to do side-by-side comparisons. Wouldn't that be cool? No easier way to learn.

We've acquired online rights to Charles Hamilton's "American Autographs" and we're going to be putting it online shortly for everyone to use, free--probably in January. The two-book set sells for $700-$1,000; it's been out of print since 1983.

Greg,

Thank you! We're going to do it right. It may go up simply at first and then move to something more advanced in order to start helping collectors sooner rather than later, though.

ok steve i got 342 of the football downloaded and about the wiki- I think you guys should create it because i dont know what you want to name it/ I dont know all of the things needed to link to to the magazine site.  So far we got boxing/football/ and Greg van derhoven's hendrix.  My friend Andy and I are also working on a baseball section.  Let me know when the team has the wiki complete and I'll put these babies up.   -Mike           (I cant believe this idea is actually coming to life; its truly remarkable!)
