Was this signed in person by any chance?

Yes, at Claridges, London.
It was collected by a very well-known UK in-person collector, Laurie Butcher. I bought it at one of the auctions in which his 50-year collection was sold. You can find references to the auctions if you Google his name.
A dedicated Polanski is on the back of the Tate (see below). I also bought a Lennon and Yoko Ono set at the same auction.
