This Freddie Mercury autograph was given to me as a gift a few years back. The older friend, and an experienced autograph collector, had it in his possession from his sister, who got this signed in person, as he told me. I have no reason to believe he was lying.
I have to sell in unfortunately and I was either going to send it to PSA/JSA first, because I know many buyers/bidders will claim it to be fake, etc. I decided to put it on eBay instead and within a few hours, received a message claiming it was 110% fake. I truly do not believe this to be the case, but decided to take it down to eventually send to PSA/JSA when I get the extra $100, to make sure.
I wanted to ask for everyones opinion on this item. The sister wrote when and where it was obtained. At this time, I do have it matted and framed. Any opinions are welcome, but I will still eventually send it to PSA/JSA. Thanks guys! I have seen many examples on google etc....which are VERY similar to what I have,
i think also it is fake, also i would trust Fran and the other,adives-ask the wikipedia of QUEEN autographs-Innuendo also you may try to contact Giancarlo also very very very experienced, regards and good luck!
Here is an image of a set of Queen - all genuine. If this helps.
Sorry man, but there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY this could be authentic.....
The thing is - and I hate to be devils advocate - but prove it. The story of obtaining and if it were to go to a court of law - if the date was right and the obtainer had proof of being there...then prove it - in the end it would be your word against hers. I have a John Barry obtained at the Concorde Lounge Heathrow in 1980 - all notarised. It's a good signature and it's right. I didn't obtain it how can I be sure?
If you are unsure about any signature then of course you will avoid it. I have started a new thread/discussion - there is an auction house that has some amazing autographs including Steve McQueen - I am certain that it is not right....there is no story behind it and it is on a photo print that is in my opinion too new for McQueens signature.
But the story of how this Mercury was obtained and if there is proof that she was at the stage door in Chicago and Freddie was there...as I say Devils advocate.
In this case it´s very simple actually....
1.) it´s all written by one hand. Shaping, formation and space between some of letters is simply wrong and nearly identical... (example: "rian", "oger", and "ie" + "ury" )
2.) Main proof - "All The besT from Queen" - that person obviously had absolutely NO IDEA how Brian´s "t" look like....
It´s completely wrong, actually very badly done fake.
The obtaining story is what would get to me...I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt...Harrison Ford is a good example - a friend obtained three signatures one after the other at a London Premiere - Ford was on the hoof and eqach sig differs. If Freddie were on the move his sig may differ from actually sitting and signing at his leisure.
Hate to say this chaps - I was talking about the original post to be proven - I know my one is right - I was there!
The Game album you uploaded to this discussion as "reference" with so-called authentic autographs is very poor badly done awful fake...
I was back stage when I saw it done...what can I say?
