Hi guys iv recently been offered a signed star wars carded figure signed to the header card BT no other than George lucas at a London store event some years ago and the vendor was a worker there at the time and hurriedly picked up a standard blue biro pen and asked lucas to sign the card. The vendor has tried to upload the best angle he could but recognised the quality of the signature is not the best. Can anyone give opinion please?.Thanks Ian

For some reason I can't open these files. Not sure if it is my computer or the images?

George Lucas is very difficult to authenticate.  I am pretty comfortable with this autograph though.  If you trust the vendor and his story you may be safe adding it to your collection.  What do you think Pete?

Hi mike, see you managed to upload one of the photos. The vendor worked at hamleys toy store in London (the biggest in the country) and was aware George was in the building so he hurriedly purchased a card and grabbed any pen he could.

Without taking into account the fact that it is signed in the worst possible pen for this item (or any item really) and this of course raises the question why would anyone forge his graph in ballpoint? You would think there is no way this can be fake. Right?

Putting all that aside and just looking at the actual graph, I would pass.

For someone with such a simplified autograph it still amazes me that so many forgers still get so much of it wrong.

Hi Peter there's a problem my end mate.Although they have uploaded the jpeg seams to have created a corruption sent from my s3 smartphone . I'll transfer them to my nexus7 in the morning and try again. Its midnight now here in the UK.Sorry for this guy's.

Whenever I look at a Star Wars autograph, or any autograph that I know better than my own, I give it 3 strikes (just like baseball) any celeb can have a bad day or be jostled while signing something and that can throw off his signature, Even a bad mood can cause a signature to vary. As simple as George's autograph is, believe it or not this one struck out.

I won't post details of the problems here in an open forum, but Mike and I have had plenty of discussions about the ins & outs of particular autographs.  Ian , if you would like more info please just message me or email me at pjc4591@aol.com

I don't see any reason to hand the dirtbags the keys to the kingdom.

I only gave it two strikes.  I would still be comfortable adding it to my collection if I trusted the vendor and his story.  Let's continue this discussion privately Pete.  Good idea.

Even IF authentic its so faded I personally wouldnt want it.

I agree.

Does anyone else have a veiw on this signature as I'm very intrigued on opinions.

At best, it's a bad example (of an already incredibly simplistic signature).  I recommend collectors pass on items like these in general.

You wouldn't mind taking a look at this Anthony Daniels signed card for me?
