George Michael’s sister Melanie died on Christmas Day 2019!!
How I missed this news I don’t know. But I just learned that sadly George Michael’s sister, Melanie, with whom he was very close, tragically passed away on the 3-year anniversary of George’s death on Christmas Day 2016.
Melanie Panayiotou, 55, was found dead by her sister on Christmas evening 2019. Police did not find her death suspicious. She and her sister inherited $128 million from brother George. Melanie’s entire share of her inheritance will now be donated to charity in keeping with her brother’s spirit of giving.
Apparently, just like her big brother, Melanie was a generous and caring person.
Prayers go out to the family. I read that she and George were about like best friends. Maybe she died of a broken heart. At least now they are reunited.
Melanie has been laid to rest right next to her brother George.

I found out about the tragic news at the end of last month. I was shocked. Seems to me very tragic but passing on the exact same date as George? I hate to think that she was under a long depression, could this have been a suicide attempt? She was 59, by the way. George was the youngest of the 3.

The timing of her death is uncanny. I mean...how many families have two immediate family members die on different Christmas Days close apart? The odds are probably better to win the lottery than having that happen in the same family. I don’t know if it was suicide, but I would think the odds are probably pretty good that it was suicide...unless she was just overcome by the stress of George’s passing. It’s very sad. That’s for sure.
