I was wondering if we could compile a comprehensive thread of real Heath Ledger signatures. I know he's real tough because his signature had variations towards the end of his life. Please post any in person or confirmed authentic examples you've got, and share any traits we should be looking for when authenticating.

I'm afraid I have nothing to offer but my request. I can copy and paste stuff from AW or RR, but that'd be cheating!

I think that this site tends to promote whoever in the hobby is doing a good job of cleaning it up for the most part.

I live in Australia,I personally knew Heath Ledger, for I live next to his home on Bronte Beach. I met Heath and knew him on a professional/friend relationship. I was on Google looking for some things and came across this on Heath. I looked at the photos listed,as to be the authentic autographs. Heath received hundreds of requests in the mail, there was no way he could grant every autograph request. It is legal, and he did have a staff member to handle his fan mail, and sign and send out photos of him to the fans. This is a known practice in the industry. I have many items signed by Heath, when he took his time he would sign very nice his complete name,as time passed and autograph seekers become more demanding his signature changed. Most autograph dealers go by exemplars, which is nothing more than what they think is authentic. I looked at the autographs, and the all look to be secretary signed, for I seen Heath sign just like the ones posted. Heath would be in a hurry and he didnt care how it looked,he would sign to where no one would know if he signed it or not,for he knew the photos was going to be sold for profit. I personally would not buy any Heath Ledger autographs on Ebay or any other site. Heath had a staff secretary that signed just as Heath did, sent out hundreds of signed photos to the fans. I usually dont get into matters on this type of issues, when I seen it I had to stop and read it and I had to reply. Know what you are talking about before you claim to know everything on the star,no matter who it is. I work in the industry, and almost every star has a staff member that signs all the photos and send them out, anything that you get through the mail,is most likely worthless, yet a fan may actually receive a real autograph. Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor, they both had staff that signed all their photo's. To get a real Michael Jackson,is rare,I knew him and I seen him sign, and the b/w photo posted on here of Michael pointing is real, the other isnt. There is a old saying here in Australia and in the US,if you dont see it signed in front of you, leave it alone. I think this is great to see people discuss autographs, its a risky business. I research any item I may be interested in buying when it comes to autographs. Authenticaters, are good, yet remember,a opinion dosent mean its real, dont pay for a opinion, they are laughing all the way to the bank. You as the seller will be the one that will be in trouble if a item isnt as the seller claims. I look on Ebay, and see all these COA's in the opinion, dont ever pay for a opinion, for its most likely worthless. Make sure its 100% authentic, dont settle for a opinion. I didnt intend to make this a long reply. Cheers to all.

can you post some of your authentic autographs?

it would be great for the site.

thanks

Cindy,

Please do post some of your Heath autographs. We would enjoy looking at them.

Most people on this site know about via the mail autographs. This site is geared more towards the in-person collector and are mostly not interested in requesting autographs via the mail and likely agree with the 'if you didn't see it get signed how do you know for sure it is authentic' mantra.

Right now third-party authenticators are a necessary fact of the autograph collecting business. It may change one day and we all know it is not perfect but that is where it sits right now.

Lady,I know you know what you are talking about. Thank you.

Amen, you know how to tell the truth,I thank you.

Since Mike Aring's posts were deleted, I feel like this thread is desperately in need of images. I finally bought a Ledger autograph I am happy with. It's an 11x14 photo. Below the photo is several others I've collected that I thought I'd contribute to this forum. The non-PSAd items come from RR Auction over the years. I used them to make my decision on the one I ended up buying. The index card pictured was bought by another member of this forum back in August.

How do you know these are real, the COA has opinion wrote in there, not the 100%. Why buy a opinion?  You have to be out of your mind. PSA/DNA COA,give me a break,I have seen their COA's,(opinion) I dont think anyone knows the real deal,if these make you happy,be happy.

What is it about this thread that attracts all of these strange comments and posts from new users that go up and are mysteriously deleted in a day or so?

PSA has been pretty consistent overall, IMO, so it's better to have their impartial opinion rather than no opinion at all. People need to stop acting like just because he died early there's no way to know what his signature looked like. You authenticate him the same way you authenticate every other signature out there. You collect exemplars from reputable dealers and authenticators and you look for similarities.

If you have "better" exemplars than what I posted, let's see them!

somewhat disappointed to realize Aring's supportive posts were removed in addition to the negative ones....  My secretarial thread must have taken a hit as well as many others...

btw, here is one of his Ledgers, there is another similar one posted earlier.

and as far as taxes go - death, taxes & the IRS!

We looked on ioffer and found where Brandon or Batman who ever bought the Heath Ledger signed photos. He bought them from collectiblejunction, very cheap, didnt that tell him something? HELLO.

I live in Calif.and got to meet Heath Ledger and others when filming Brokeback Mountian. He would walk by and sign or more like scribble something on a photo, that looked nothing more than a H or A and some up down to where it was not what anyone would call a autograph at all.  Ebay has lost alot of its sellers due to the Uncle Sam tax policy. So all of Ebay crooks have now moved to ioffer. Most buyers dont care if the autograph is real or not, then there are those that do care,as for James Spence,Global, and who ever else that gives out the holgrams and all the glitter of the coa, that has that opinion wrote in there so good, and a fool has just paid them a $100 or more to get the so called coa,it nothing more than throwing your money down a rat hole. Paypal is the only for sure way to get your money back,if you do find the stuff you bought is fake. But then you may not get it back. There is a ole saying,if you dont take the money, someone else will.  A fool and his money soon parts, and it takes a fool to buy anything so called autographed on Ebay, ioffer or any other site. Its tough out here, people are trying to make a buck,no matter what to survive. Read up on the risks of buying autographs, geeze, makes a person want to go get drunk. As for Heath Ledger, and his drug problem, and paying 25 thou a month for a apt. Just think how many hungry people his monthly rent would feed. Hes gone RIP,and if you have a Heath Ledger signed photo, sell it and enjoy the money for in time it wont bring all that big $$$.

Brokeback Mountain was filmed in Canada, Wyoming, and New Mexico so Heath must have taken a jet back to California in between takes to sign autographs for you.
