Hey guys,

What do you think of this Heath Ledger (see attached)? Thanks!

You often need to see it in person to be sure, but the texture of the ink is similar to the texture of the photo. That could just be a poorly saved JPG, but I think there's a good chance it's not just that.

Then look at edges where the photo meets the margin. It shows it to be a low-quality JPG, probably downloaded from the internet, but the writing is not as low quality as the photo.

Last and most curious, it's signed in two pen colors, but using the same kind of pen. I can't imagine a celeb signing in two different color pens except at an autograph show...if even then. Is there any history of Ledger doing that?

So I think that if it's a real signature, they lifted it in Photoshop from the real deal and placed it on the photo in two different colors.

Thanks Steve. I will know what to look for if I suspect an item is a preprint/reprint.

You have officially lost me here, hahahahaha.

2 ink colors?

I was just going to say look for where the ink crosses itself, a real paint pen will show double the ink in crossed spots. like the center point of an X or the crossing of a T. A print is all one level of ink, with no doubling at cross points and no flow visible in the movement of the pen in the writing writing  ..... just all flat.

True there, Pete. But are there Ledger photos with "All the Best printed on them? That's in a different color than his signature.

There are no printed Ledger photos, that I am aware of.  The original piece here looks like a small mail away photo like the Brits sent out decades ago, with image above and white area below. All signed in Silver paint pen, part on dark image part on white border below.

At least that is what I am seeing here.

So the dark part of the signature where it overlaps the photo is from lighting?

Maybe your screen resolution is better than mine? I see a silver paint pen(or silver print) all one shade. Inscription and heart in the dark section of the photo and autograph in the light area below.

Yes, I'm seeing it closer up and it looks like two colors, noticeable at the top of the L and D of the signature. But I think you're right: originally a silver pen and the lighting makes it look dark.

But now more than ever I think the signature is printed.

Might be time to wipe the nicotine and tar off my monitor.

The Pen should look different then the Photo, mostly it shines. Also some times you can see some pixels.

Fake until proven real. That's how I see things, especially with highly forged ledger signed stuff, you don't buy stuff based on possibilities. That is how you get burned. So I wouldn't be upset over this.
