Definitely one of the nicest Hendrix autographs I've ever seen,It is signed with a steel tip fountain pen.Is this piece rarer or more desirable than ballpoint autographs?

Most signatures were signed in biro as they were more readily available.

I personally prefer the ballpoint signatures, but this is a nice example.

Agreed. Either over Sharpie/felt/fiber tip! Give me something that scratches the paper.

For me, I prefer fountain, but I don't recall seeing many fountain pen Hendrix signatgures. James Mason would look pretty odd in ballpoint I think. Author John Maxtone-Graham only used fountain so it is expected there.
