Sir Paul was in my town a month back, so I tried to meet him.  It was only about 4 of us at the airport and I thought he might actually sign for us. He did roll down the window and wave.  I still think that was pretty cool.  He didn't even have to do that… just could have keep driving.

NOW - I tried to meet him when he was leaving. Still only about 4 of us.   It was cold and late at night.. which is ok - part of the game.  His body guard came over and asked us to leave the parking area and wait by the street.  Really… ok no worries we can just wait in the grass.  He then went on to say - Paul has not stop to sign anything this tour - BUT if he does you have to write "YOUR NAME" "the CITY we are in" and the "Date".  REALLY???  At the time I didn't raise a fuss, but later on I really wish I had.  The reason we had to write all the crap on our album was because of "Ebay" according the to body guard.  Really EBAY!!  Please… Is Ebay really hurting Paul McCartney.   I wanted to say… instead of complaining about ebay - why doesn't he just charge a fee and donate it to his favorite charity.  Still has me shaking my head….  I am glad I didn't write all that crap on the album and ruin it.  Oh - and Paul didn't stop btw.

People like this need to get off their high horse, I don't care who he is. Heaven forbid he give 2 seconds of his life to scribble on your album.

The "eBay excuse" is nothing more than a scapegoat. If it bothers him that much, then personalize everything, or sign stuff incredibly atypical for those that look like dealers. These are the type of people whose autographs I would not even want, including Jimmy Page. If it's that devastatingly miserable for them to sign, then I don't even want it. In the grand scheme of things it's ink on paper from a rich a******.

Exactly. It's not that hard to recognize the guy with a stack of 50 pictures to get signed.. Have your body guards enforce the 1 item per person rule, scribble your name a few times and be done with it.

People are so stupid. I was on a cruise once and Pierce Brosnan was on the dock when we were getting off. He flipped out when one of the crew members asked him for an autograph. Seriously? What kind of ego do you have to have to be that vain. Here's an idea Pierce, if you don't want people asking for your autograph don't hang out on the dock where 3000 people are getting off a cruise ship.

I have gotten Springsteen a couple of times and I have also NOT gotten him a couple of times.  That's ok.  He could have been tired, in a mood and just didn't want to talk to anyone. I am fine with that.  But to BLAME ebay for the reason you are not stopping to sign for 4 people standing out in the cool is BS to me.

Yup that is the worst, when you are a true fan and one of very few around and they still brush you off.

I was walking down the street after a Dodgers/Cardinals game decked out in Dodgers gear and all of a sudden I see Hanley Ramirez/Yasiel Puig walking towards me. I was literally the only person within 100yards. I asked them both very nicely to sign my team ball, and they both looked up and kept on walking. Never even missed a stride. Would've taken them 2 seconds to scribble on my ball, they didn't even have to stop walking.

 yep ; - that's exactly how I feel Ryan

yes Ryan, they are both are confirmed stuck up di***. At least Hanley is gone and when Yasiel hits .190 this year, he'll be gone too. I spent a little time in the clubhouse this year and everybody just steered clear of them.

My days of season tix or even paying for a game at Dodger Stadium are LONG over. I might go if I'm invited and get clubhouse access with a buddy of mine that was on the 88 WS team and they still make him pay for parking. They also charge his guests for food. The Dodgers can Below ME.

here's the last game I was at

I don't have a Facebook so I can't view it, but I will probably be jealous LOL. Die-hard Dodgers fan here ever since Donnie got the coaching gig, but if he gets canned I will follow him to his new team. Looks like you're the man to talk to if I get out to LA this summer for some ball games! I cannot believe they charge your pal for parking... LOL. WOW.

A good friend is a former sportswriter for the LA Times.
His view is that generally baseball players are the worst athletes to deal with...by far! That may extend to autographs as well.

Why does he owe you 2 seconds of his life?

And he's essentially doing his version of personalizing everything, but he's making the requester do it.

I am 100% fine with not stopping - but be honest.  Don't say the whole… "ebay thing".  And Paul's head of Security was very nice and polite.  He was a gentleman.

Yes, its the 'helpers' of the dealers that really are killing it for the real fans.  In NYC recently as I said, Paul signed a few.  I know a few real fans who waited for hours & got screwed , while these helper kids got the autograph.  One got two!  Ask theses 'fans' to name a McCartney song and they prob couldn't.  I have heard Paul's security team does quiz the people waiting to see who is really a fan and who isnt;  I am fine with that, but obviously that wasn't the case in NYC recently.

I only have gotten Paul at in-store signings, never in the street.  I have given up on that.

When I saw Paul at Dodger Stadium last year, he brought a fan on stage who was holding a poster... for over 5 minutes. He signed her arm which she was going to tattoo and then signed a guitar for her. Of course Fudd had 3rd row seats on the field and access to the VIP section. He played over 3 hours. We bolted during Helter Skelter, his last song to beat the traffic. When we hit the parking lot the song ended. 1 minute later we were in our car and his Limo was the first one out...almost before the song ended LOL. He wasn't signing nuttin for nobody.
