This is an album I'm thinking about purchasing.  What I don't know is whether the signature is genuine or not.  Can anyone advise me?  Thank you.

Mines for sale

It is also a forgery. Just providing additional info

Point taken  but Nicolas might not have looked there and it was put up for comparisons think he's got his eyes on this particular l.p. anyway

Those are nice vintage examples - before the mid 90's when he became a germaphobe. My buddy has gotten him about every other year for the last 25 years and he's always had the black Sharpie. Hes never seen him switch even for pitch black items that need silver but have seen a couple authentic items in other colors over the years but only a couple. They would be exceptionally rare.

Of the 260 Jethro Tull signed items on eBay there are 6 real ones in something other then black Sharpie. They are exceptionally rare. Anything signed on blue or silver should be scrutinized heavily. And well over half the stuff listed in total is fake.
I’ve gotten Ian about 6 times over the last 8 years and on 2 separate occasions I asked him to use my blue and silver sharpies (to match Martin Barre’s signatures) and he obliged easily. Granted, I was one-on-one with him in both of those situations, which certainly helped. In the other 4 encounters there was a group of people and he did not switch from his black sharpie - and I didn’t ask. All that to say, this signature should not be judged on ink color alone. It looks okay to me, but I’d ask Roger Epperson for a quick opinion to have more certainty.
That's always good advice and I would never judge on pen alone. My conversation was with a long time IP collector who has got him many times as well. He usually wears gloves signing now. Anyway, he doesn't like the one mentioned either, regardless of pen color.

I agree with most of what you have said in this thread, Seamus.  I have met Ian several times over the last 25+ years also.  He dislikes paint pens mostly.  He does carry his own sharpie, he likes that.  :-)))

Ian Anderson does like using his own Sharpie, but I've seen him use other people's silver pens when necessary many times over the years. So that's neither here nor there.

I just did it to poke a bit of fun on a Saturday. I think Seamus would agree that no single rule...(generally - Geo. Washington in silver paint pen - now that's a problem! )
