Wanted opinion on this jerry rice autograph photo my son found. The seller accepted our offer but we have not paid for it yet. The seller is offering 30 day money back guarentee which ebay would also back up but don't want to waste time with JSA if it is definitely a fake. JSA is coming to a sports card show next month so we are already meeting with them. The seller is aware we are having JSA look at it. I would assume if the seller knows it is a fake why would be waste time selling it to us just to have to give a refund. Opinions? Thanks for your help
I think this is real.
Guys I have to disagree. Rice autos are easily faked and the “J” just doesn’t sit well with me. I could be wrong but I’d pass.
I was actually thinking the same thing, I don’t like the J, but the 80 looked good as did most of the lettering. It has been many years since I got him in person (about 4 items), I figured he may have changed his signature a bit since retirement. I think I would avoid it as well.
After the first two responses were positive I went ahead and bought it and it’s already been shipped.
it’s only $20 for JSA to look at it at the card show and the seller is willing to offer a 30 day money back guarantee
ironically that’s a bit more than I even paid for the piece.
what would you do at this point?
Once you receive the item and observe it, you can always request a refund. Let the seller know it didn't pass authentication and request a return. Usually, The seller will accept the return and you should be able to just print a return label for free. You can pick up a genuine signature for a reasonable price.
I still think this autograph is real. The following is a signed book America's Game which he cowrote and signed many copies of. The J looks like it's three separate strokes put together: The top of the J, the line coming down from it, and the tail going to the left. In the signed book, you can see the three strokes and the middle one is then used to end his first name. In the photo, I think since he was signing his full name, he didn't connect to the -erry part, but the three strokes are still there, just disconnected. Just my two cents. Let's see what JSA says.
The three separate strokes isn’t the question, he always does that. For me, it is the size of the J.
Did Beckett online review and it failed
