A stripped down, minimalist signature here with nothing really concrete to go by, other than honing in on that clearly definable "L". Which is allegedly from 1976? Not from what I've seen.
I have to go with forged, based on that 'L' from the stated year of that signature. I'd say it's safe to eliminate the 1975 through 1978 period for a possible 'L' of that type, intermixed with the rest of those characters.
Woody,
thank you for your reply! when i asked the owner about date he answered me that it was in the 70s (1975 or 1976). funny, but he doesn't remember what was the year. ok, maybe it's because he's 78 years old...
but i still wanna know if this real one or not...
Richard,
well... thanks
not to go against the grain here, and recognizing that Lennon is very tough to authenticate, I believe this could be real.
terrier,
thank you.
Orzeck,
thanks.
Steve,
wow!! great collage. i'm impressed, thank you!
However, the example in question makes a completely different use of space. All 4 from the collage are by the same hand. All similar architecture. The one on the lined paper, simply isn't. Even the manner in which it's written, John's entire apparatus is different than usual, especially when directly compared to the above 4 examples. Even the angle of the pen/hand/wrist indicates a different author, although that particular lined/cross-hatch type of paper has been in production prior to 1976.
