Hi everyone! I'm hoping to get some opinions on this great piece. It belonged to my late father. It's a vintage one-sheet poster from 1962's Safe At Home that appears to be signed by Mickey Mantle. I'm no expert in Mantle sigs but after looking at some genuine examples, it looks pretty good. However, this could just be wishful thinking on my part. What do you think? Genuine or not?

Please tell me if I’m wrong, but if I remember correctly, posters used to be shipped, I guess from manufacturers to either retail stores or individuals, in a manner in which the posters were machine-folded.  This was prior to the 1980s, I believe.  So if you have a poster that was machine-folded, the poster can still be considered “near-mint” even with the creases because that’s how they were produced and shipped.

However, beginning in the 80s, posters were shipped rolled up without the machine folds.  Is this true?  My Prince poster was machine-folded, but as I understand it, collectors are not “penalized” since this was standard practice.  Mine came as a promo insert in an album.

That's true. Machine-folded was the standard practice for pre-80's posters (and some from the early 80's). It is not considered a defect, unless the fold lines show some wear, have crossfold chips, or are separating. Sometimes you can come across some vintage posters from the pre-80's that were rolled, but that's rare and those usually go for a premium price if they're good titles. That Prince poster is a great item!
