Hi All,

I am intending on purchasing a Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire book with J.K. Rowling's autograph on the dedication page. I have received one independent opinion saying that it is legit, but was hoping to have a second opinion before going through with the purchase. Also if you have any suggestions of authentication services or questions to ask the seller (it's a reputable seller of fine books with multiple accreditations) please let me know.

Thanks!

Real and a fantastic looking one at that.   You can ask how/when they obtained it, but is is absolutely real.

I have an authenticated “goblet of fire”, as well as “deathly hallows”.  I also have the first printing of the philosophers stone that I wish was signed!

this is a photo of deathly hallows since my goblet of fire is not accessible right now. The signature is often faked so I will wait for others to weigh in.  Can I ask the name of the seller?  Would they be willing to accept the piece back if it fails?  Can they associate some provenance? Does it have the proper hologram?

Very nice signature also!   The Goblet above was signed before her use of holograms.

Thanks Greg for correcting my oversight!  You are absolutely correct.

Dan

Does this come with the golden ticket that was part of original signing event or was the signature acquired at a later time?

Thank you, Daniel and Gregory, for your comments/opinions!

Another question, it does appear to be a second printing. Should this send alarm bells?

I will definitely be following up as to how they (fine books shop in Melbourne) obtained it and whether they have any further evidence, such as the Golden Ticket etc. It is good to know that the holograms were not in use during the release of the Goblet of Fire. I have always been my dream since I was a kid to own a real J.K. Rowling autograph, but I know all too well that there are fakes out there and wanted to patiently wait for the right one to come around. Whilst this is a secondary matter for me, what is the approximate price range that would spend, given that the book is a very good condition?

If it is a second printing, there will be no golden ticket.  If you are looking for a first edition, first printing with a fine dj and authentic signature,it is going to cost substantially more.  However, given your interest in simply owning an autographed HP  Goblet of Fire, you are choosing a much more affordable option. Best of luck.

I've had about half a dozen autographs of J K over the years, she lives about 5 miles from me! The signature looks genuine to me. Best, John
