Hello,
I found an autographed photo of James Stewart at an estate sale this morning. Here are a few pics:
I wanted to ask the owner a few questions regarding how the autograph was obtained, etc, but was told she was not there at the present time and to come back tomorrow.
In the meantime, was wondering what you guys think? Was it common for Mr. Stewart to sign his last name under the James? The vast majority of examples I've seen of his signature have his last name beside the first, and not under.
Anyway, paid $24 so not a huge loss if it's a fake and thought it was worth the risk.
Regards!

I like the first name, not the last name. Not an expert on his signature, though. I've seen many, though (and he often drew the rabbit)
Hey Josh,
Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I did a lot of comparisons with the thread linked here: https://live.autographmagazine.com/forum/topics/james-stewart-muell...
I agree that the 'Stewart' looks a tad off, especially the 'w'. Also, still don't see many examples where he signed his last name under the first, and not beside it.
Went back to that estate sale earlier. Unfortunately, the original owner was again not there. However, her daughter was. She didn't seem to know much about the photo other than saying "she is 55, and remembers it being hung in her mother's home for as long as she can remember". I guess that dates it pre-1990s, so that's good. I left my name & phone # with her in case her mom would like to give more info, but kinda got the impression it was an inconvenience. Don't expect to hear back, sadly.
Anyway, if anyone else would like to give an opinion it would be appreciated!
Regards
Bump :)
If I were to have my photo professionally authenticated, does anyone know of a person whom specializes in James Stewart?
