I myself have been on the look out for a JJ for sometime. These two are current or recent. I have concerns for different reasons per item but will refrain from further comment until Ballroom adds his invaluable take.
Separately, given that they all passed at 27, in terms of availability of genuine signed items, I would say

1-Jimi Hendrix

2-Janis Joplin

3-Jim Morrison

One being most available and three being least. I would be interested to hear from others.

i do believe that genuine Janis signatures  have been undervalued for a while although that trend has been changing somewhat of late, if recent auction results are anything to go by.
Thanks

Both aren’t authentic in my opinion. I agree with your rarity ranking. I think there’s a lot more Hendrix available than Joplin and Morrison combined. I can’t even imagine how valuable a Hendrix autograph would be if it was as rare as the other two.

Thanks Mark. Always good to get your invaluable insight. Thanks too for confirmation of the two items as having issues, shall we say!
All that aside, i do believe that there is something of a market correction underway when it comes to Janis Joplin signed items. She had been undervalued for a while which was bewildering to me given that her signature is fairly scarce in the context of a Hendrix for example. And of course given her notoriety as the supposedly female Jim Morrison as I seem to recall reading! Lazy journalism as I prefer to call her out for her fantastic voice and performances.
Anyway, regarding her signature, it tends to be fairly consistent in flow and form. I therefore find it quite amusing when in some fake JJ signatures, the culprit gets the first J wrong in terms of direction, totally messing up the flow of the rest of the signature to come!

Thank again
