OK - so i got a great deal on a signed jerry garcia greatful dead family album book.   almost too good to be true - but i really thought it looked pretty clean.

in the front of the book theres a small letter that reads 1989 - dear steph i hope this completes your collection ! happy birthday !

Im wondering if this was done at a book signing?

i was planning on sending it over to james spence .... but if any of you (which i know some are) experts on dead items PLEASE help me out! i WANT this to be real!!!!!

i cant find any info that there was in fact a book signing for this book - it is a hardcover and pretty nice.   im sure its a possibility.

im crossing my fingers on this one.

also if u have any suggestions on a better authentication service for dead items let me know!

I'm not an expert on Dead autographs, but if you compare the autograph in the book with the autograph that I have on my home page, I will say that this autograph is not genuine.

The autograph on my home page is signed in person for me in 1990. And I have never seen a Garcia autograph like the one in your book.

Let's see if others agree with me or if they think I'm wrong.

thanks for the reply bjarne .     ive seen jerry true authentic signatures in several different versions ... thats whats most confusing about his signature.   Ive also seen him sign it the way you have.        i had my doubts but would love more input from others. =/

have to be honest hoped ot have more responses! please help!

i DO CONSIDER MYSELF A DEAD AUTOGRAPH EXPERT AS I HAVE BEEN PERSONALLY COLLECTING BUYING AND SELLING DEAD  ITEMS FOR YEARS AND HAVE POSTED KNOWN EXEMPLARS HERE BEFORE. HERE ARE SOME THAT I HAD SIGNED AND CERTIFIED

I have a Jerry Garcia sketch entitled earth signed by Jerry Garcia eould you be interested in it. Dga1014@aol.com
Could you post a pic Diane of the one your selling. Thanks
Ive never been on this website before so if you tell me how to I will

here is my story:  The Grateful Dead came out with this book in 1983 and it was published by Quill, a division of William Morrow Publishing in New York City. My father, Allen Marchioni, was the President of William Morrow and knew that my sister and I were huge Deadheads. He was able to get two copies of the book, signed by the entire band, and also signed by the editor, Paul Grushkin. This book is signed by all band members, Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzman, Mickey Hart and also Brent Mydland. (As you may know, Jerry and Brent are no longer with us on this Earth, Rest in Peace). I have owned this book for over 30 years, and would now be interested in selling it. It has been looked at ALOT ! The cover shows wear. There are a few pages that are loose and come free from the binding....unfortunately, the autographed page is one of the pages that has come loose. I am sure it could be professionally rebound. I also have a copy of a page from a letter written by the Editor, Paul Grushkin. Underlined you will see it says that "the band hopes that Al's daughters will enjoy the two signed copies". I am looking to get valuation/sell this now.  Can i get any guidance please?  Joel, can  you let me know what you think?  THanks much, Mary
