The book does belong to Mark Roberts. He posted it earlier and I reposted it along with a photo of the "pre-signed" books to show just how different they are. Night and day in my opinion. Mark, not only did JLL run the signature into the spine of the book, but if memory sereves, didn't he sign it in the back of the book as well?

No he did not sign the back of the book. He signed the back of the title page.. unlike 100's of other books where he signed it on the title page.

I now recall someone from Memphis re-selling a red-signed book on ebay, they may have even said they got it from the Canon Center event, that's why I am thinking they were the same lot of red pre-signed books as NYC.

Correct - that is mine (The Book signed to Mark) that I got signed last year some time.  Compare that to the books.  Everything says Jerry Lee Lewis in this example, down to the inscription.

Mark

gee, that book looks similar to mine

What is the story on that book - Terrier

Mark

Mark, sorry for the confusion, it is not a book, it is signed on the back of a Children's Museum of Memphis business card.

 When was this signed??

Mark

I'm trying to figure that out by looking up the person's name who is on the business card.  I was told it was 1985 but I don't believe that is correct.

There was supposed to be a subsequent concert and book event in Memphis.
They were canceled.

This next article mentions the Q & A book event. I believe "signed" books were to be part of this.

So who knows what happened to the other "signed" books (besides the 278 required for purchase at the sold out NYC event). But the publisher, the retailer and JLL's management certainly have kept publicly quiet about them.

And yes, people subsequently have paid for through the mail signatures.
Have seen at least 3.
They look much different from the red ink signatures in the book.
Will try to post a photo if I can get access to them.

Here is a JLL signature obtained through the mail in late March/early April of this year:

I would be surprised if JLL signed that.
