I agree with Jefferson on the Kennedy signature, and Kennedy studies, Paul K Carr's book is a must for signatures during the presidency. Let's not forget the Sanders books, and Dr Richard Saffro contribution to the industry.
+1 james. this guy gets close, but the handwriting on the inscriptions is almost always off, or strangely worded.
Thanks!
Hamilton's book now goes for over $200. You can most of that elsewhere for much cheaper.
I agree James, I have seen one for $1200. Fortunately I purchased mine years ago, I think I still paid $150.
I've tried to obtain a copy of Hamilton's in the past and it's just too expensive for me.
I looked at as many references as I could and thought it looked real but I am new to this and now I see I almost certainly made a mistake.
Jean The autograph looks real to me. If I could suggest sending it in to JSA or Herman Darvick that works with John Reznikoff, and I think that Herman authenticates for JSA also. I actually have purchased many items from both John and Herman, Highly recommended. I am also possibly interested in the item for up to $400. I would definitely need to inspect it to make sure it was not reprinted.
By the way, in my discussion with this guy - if this is the same guy and it appears to be - he was familiar with this site and even cited some discussions.
On a related note, look at all the starts and stops in the pen strokes.
I purchased a lot of Kennedy items, in my opinion it is good, I just do not buy cuts, I think you should pass, not because of the signature, but because it is a cut.
I do not agree that you should not buy cuts, I have purchased many cuts when I first started collecting. Now I prefer the better Autographs, like letters, manuscripts or signed books.
I believe we have a fake, everything from the sellers reputation to the actual signature itself screams forgery to me, not to mention Kennedy is highly forged.
Below is an example of a REAL Kennedy signature next to the one in question, forget the variations (there were always a lot). The "ennedy" part in the real signature shows strong squiggles, very commanding, in the other one again, we see none of that. The entire signature in question doesn't have any command, it is as if someone has practiced on sheets of paper and is having a go at coming up with something.
Here an example that just sold at RRAuction for $1200
