Hi, I would appreciate opinions on this JFK signed photo.  Thanks in advance for all responses.

Thanks,

Sorry, this is secretarial.  It was was signed by Jill Cowan, a JFK secretary, on the President’s behalf.

Oftentimes, people would receive a letter from Ms. Lincoln saying that the President was happy to sign the item for the recepient when in reality, it was signed by a secretary.  They did this just so people would believe that they received a real JFK autograph.  It was done with good intentions, although it was very dissapointing for heirs to learn the truth many years later.  Still, many people would point to a letter from Evelyn Lincoln as “absolute proof” that they had a real JFK autograph when in reality they did not.

In 2005, Christie’s actually sold one of these signed and inscribed photo’s by Jill Cowan for about $5000.  Since then, i believe Christie’s realized their mistake and would never certify one of these again as authentic.

Thanks James, I really appreciate it!
