Hi Carl, from the presentation (fresh ink, old paper/sizing, very stiff, slow/drawn look) and letter formation oddities (many unusual notes, opposing slants etc.) I would say not genuine in my opinion. Very sorry.

Hi Carl, I just wanted to add that I claim no particular skills with Steinbeck signatures so my observations were limited, but you asked me to comment so I did the best I could. I hope this helps.
