I have learned SO much about John Wayne's signature by reviewing other threads but would welcome POVs on the authenticity of the two attached items.
I have concerns about the signature on the "True Grit" SP, specifically the shape and flow of the "y" not connecting with the "ne", as well as the roundness of the top of the "J" rather than the more pointed form. The signature and date on the "Fighting SeaBees" poster seems more consistent with authentic examples including the pointed "J" and "ne" dropping below the base level.
One consistent theme throughout many discussion threads is "forgeries are supposed to look like the real thing". To my unfamiliar eye, both of these look close but would appreciate any opinions - good, bad or inconclusive. Thank you.
