Hi All,

I'm watching a Joni Mitchell SP at auction but I have a few concerns about the signature.  It may be authentic but most of the JM signatures I have seen have quite a 'loopy' double 'L' at the end.

What do people here think?

Thanks!

I’m not keen.  It’s almost like it’s too perfect, or traced from a good source.

Joni rarely writes her first and last names on one line.  Not to say that it never happens, but it’s rare.  See this example from my own collection:

With regard to the “loopy” Ls in Mitchell, Joni has what I like to call her neat and her scruffy signatures.  The loopy Ls are a feature of her scruffy sig, but she is capable of keeping these in check.  The above example is absolutely legit, from her Morning Glory on the Vine book.

I took the liberty of looking up the auction you refer to, and the seller does not have the best reputation.  Personally, I would avoid this one.

Thanks.  That's what I though!
