Let me start by saying I study Mattingly A TON, and I do not like this AT ALL. It is missing almost everything I look for in a Donnie Baseball sig.

At best, this is highly questionable:

The autograph does appear to be questionable.  It is possible that the black Sharpie made signing the baseball awkward.

The Sharpie definitely did not help... A pretty risky cert if you ask me. I would not be willing to give my 100% approval of this.

Neither would I.  By the way, Donnie is scheduled to do a signing at the Steiner Sports Store on November 8, 2013.  I will keep you posted on my item.

Ryan, I agree.  That appears to be a forgery.  It even looks slowly drawn (based on equal ink disbursement.  I wouldn't buy this

Neither would I.

does he normally cross his L?

this is no doubt a very poorly executed forgery.

Not as a separate line but sometimes as a continuous squiggle.

He does not cross L. It reminded me of another questionable JSA certed Donnie which I have always questioned:

Does anybody else see the bubbling on the JSA sticker? Could it have been removed from an authentic baseball and put on a forged one? It looks that way, to me anyways.

I see it.  Nice catch Kevin.

That's typical for a baseball with a jsa sticker to show that sign of unsettled ridges. There sticker design does not lay flat on baseballs. I don't think you would be able to peel a jsa sticker off a baseball .

The only way they can have any faith in certing that Mattingly is if they have a great exampler file from that Era or are comfortable with the seller of that item . It probably should have not been cert'd though .

I seem to recall his earlier signatures being very small. not like this.
