just got a inconclusive from JSA with regards to Micheal Wehrmann

Hello All -

I just had a Carmen Electra signed photo looked at by JSA and they said it was not good.  It comes from "Collectables of the Stars" and the cert is signed by Michael Wehrmann.  I did see an old thread in the forum here with regards to Wehrmann.

Does anyone know where this person is or how to get up with him with regards to the photo not be authentic?

Thanks!

Mark

Based on what I've seen with celebrity autographs and those two names, my instinct would be to trust Wehrmann over JSA.

Who is Carmen Electra?
I wouldnt say The electra is a fake . Do you have a picture ?
Michael Wehrmann is gold. I've been in this hobby a long time and I would doubt very much Michael would risk his reputation over a Carmen Electra autograph.

Wehrmann is about as trustworthy a name as there is- JSA just offers opinions and they are wrong, frequently.

I will post the photo after dinner - for the record - I am not saying its not real - I am saying that JSA says its not authentic.

JSA opinion on celebrity items is not very good. Their opinion would mean little to me over a reputable dealer.
I take these authentication company's opinions with a grain of salt.

Do they really have a Carmen Electra expert on staff?

People are paying mucho dollars for Wehrmann's Dylan LP's he let go to the private market simply because of Wehrmann's name.

I just can't imagine a collector of his caliber or integrity would throw that kind of clout away over a $75 photo.

I know you aren't making accusations, I'm just saying I would trust Wehrmann more than my mother. He's that good.
I think a Wehrman coa may be worth more than a jsa cert in the long run anyways .

Agreed.  Rock solid COA straight from the source.  It's most likely the TPA with a spotty reputation with non-sport celebrity autographs that blew the call.

If you were Press Pass, I bet they would have certed it.

Rich is right on point.

I do think we have to use some caution of proclaiming even the best IP collectors as infallible (there have been instances of good collectors going bad and doing significant damage).  But there are some on and off Ebay who I recommend without hesitation because they have morals, believe in keeping the hobby clean and take pride in their reputation.

I also think JSA and PSA's apparent policy of "we can authenticate anything" is stupid.  In many instances, they don't have the competency or they won't put in the time.  They don't have a comprehensive database or different types of signature styles of every celebrity ever.  It's not a shock that they'd whiff on someone like Carmen Electra.

Carmen Electra has a signature that is all over the place to begin with so without even seeing this one in question I'd be willing to wager that it is on the sloppy side and instead of saying "unable to render an opinion" and not charging they just flat out said "not authentic" , took the money and ran.

None of these "authentication" companies has exemplars on every signature or style of signature so its nearly impossible to get them all correct.
