Hi,

I would really appreciate a second opinion on this photo I've been offered from the late 1940s/early 50s. Hardy has signed in biro - I read he got a biro pen in 1947.

Thanks in advance!

Hello this link may be helpful. Scroll down - there is the same photo as yours but in a small jpeg. The sigs appear good, but much better scans are needed.

Thanks Eric - it's a minefield!

looks bad

The proportions look a bit out. I don't like it.

A better look at both would be most helpful.

Thanks both, I appreciate it. Some hopefully better scans attached.

It looks slightly better when enlarged, but I still wouldn't buy it.

The Stan perhaps appears a stamp - he did use them from from the 1930's on.

Link to stamps

Michael, Eric - thanks. I will stay clear. Much appreciated.

That's what I thought. I know Hardy used a stamp, as he was always on the golf course. I didn't know Laurel had a stamp, but he could have.

They are only rarely both stamps FWIW. That does look like Biro.
