Lockdown Blues. Jim Morrison ‘Autograph’ Trials and Tribulations. Mark 3

My third and final submission, a framed first album. The signature is very weak and faded unfortunately.

Based on what I can see of the signature, this actually looks good to me. I’m really surprised.

Hello Mark. I hope you are well. I too am inclined to say that it looks good. It’s just a real shame that it is so weak and faded, quite unlike your New Creatures signature!

That is a shame, but like Jack said it’s still quite a rarity. I also hadn’t seen a real signed debut LP among all of the fakes. Amazing.

I am glad to share this with you and Jack. I value his and yours opinion.

Jack mentioned that he has knowledge of three signed LPs. I am only aware of the Waiting For The Sun, dedicated to Sharon that sold for around $12k a while back (you and I had a brief discussion about that one). Not aware of any other although there was a guy out of Scotland selling a Strange Days album purportedly signed by Jim on eBay around 3 months ago. It actually looked quite convincing and I wish I had pics of that to run past you and Jack.

Here’s the third one. As you can see, he signed the inside gatefold of a copy of Morrison Hotel.

Thanks Mark. So that is two. Is there a third?

Yours is the third.

Mark. Hope you are well.

Following advice from Otter and Jack, I deframed the LP cover. Only when out of the frame, is the signature J more apparent and a full appreciation of the autograph is realised in the context of authenticity. It’s just a shame it is so faint. Unfortunately also, it has been mounted by sticky pads. What do you advise?

PS I have included some more out of frame pics, see below

It was nicely signed. I think your best bet would be to have a professional restorer remove it from the backing. You could then either have it properly framed or just store it out of the light.

Thanks for the pics. I can see the top portion pretty well.

I can't believe I'm seeing what I'm seeing, but this is genuine in my opinion and is the only JDM signed debut LP I've ever seen, and only the 3rd signed LP by Morrison that I've ever seen. It is faded, yes, but it's simply magnificent. Congratulations! it's truly a treasure and never thought one even existed. Any additional information you could give us on it.

Hello Jack. I hope you are well. I bought this on eBay some years back. The lady that was selling it advertised it as an LP that is plaqued as signed by Morrison but she stated that she was unable to locate the signature and that it might be signed on the reverse Of the LP cover but she would refrain from deframing it for fear of causing damage. It is indeed a very faded signature which is unfortunate
