     I appreciate you all in the attempt to have my name removed from this site. It takes a good person to admit when they are wrong and attempt to fix it. I can only hope the owner if this forum can be so fortunate. 

     I want you to keep the pictures up and help warn others about possible forgeries. I appreciate what you guys do. You can help save people some money. 

     This will be my last post on here. All future messages will be private unless i have another autograph. Thank you again and i hope to see my name cleared up soon. PS, if i ever need help with a forgery case, i will also stop on by.

I agree with Steve, that seller names shouldnt be removed unless an error was made by the poster of the thread, which does happen, but my issue is that something doesnt sit right here. The ebay seller did the right thing and took it down yet i find several things very strange.

One was the immediate response of asking for the name to be removed from this site repeatedly. As strange as that may sound to a newcomer, very rarely is that asked, and when it is, typically its not for a good reason. But thats really a minor point.The 2nd was the buy it now that the Mantle was set at. I believe i read where Steve said it was for 99 dollars? 99 Dollars?? It just doesnt add up. For instance, i used to have a Mantle ball my parents bought me when i was a kid. I never was a baseball fan so it got boxed up and put in the attic. In 2011 i found this site and asked if it was authentic b/c i wanted to sell it. Everyone said it was no doubt good and i sold it. It turns out i sold it too one of the most psychopathic ebayers you will ever come across, but a sell is a sale i suppose. In any event, i didnt collect sports signatures and had no idea what it was worth when i was calculating what i should look for as far as a reserve price.

Well within about 10 minutes and just a little google/youtube reserach, mixed with some ebay searching, i found that a good mantle ball will sale all day long for 300 dollars or more. Mine went for about 350 uncertified with no paper work. I know some go for less and more, but finding a good quality Mantle on a ball for under 200 i imagine is extremely extremely rare. I know when i looked up selling prices on ebay, for a nice ball, they were all ending at least 275 and up. the point i guess being that it took basically no time to see what the item was worth. And i knew it would bring in a nice chunk of change. And i also knew that i wasnt going to let it go for below 250, and so i had that reserve. So to be a regular ebay seller, and not do any research to see what this item was worth seems very unlikely to me. It would have taken no time at all really, and as i only sell every now and then, even i know that you almost always do research before hand to get an estimate of the amount to be expected. And you said that you did research on the item, at least enough to know the COA was from a real person. So it just doesnt add up that during that research, that you wouldnt research what authentic balls sale for that will fly off the shelf. Also from experience, storage locker buyers want to sell their items for max profit, and typically do lots of research on their items before they sell to maximize profit. Not only that, but even baseball novices know Mantle. Its like hearing Ruth or Dimaggios name. Most everyone knows who they are and they are recognized as titans in the baseball industry. So having a Mantle should have been lots of incentive to look up realized prices, at least in my book that makes sense.

Even with zero knowledge of baseball autographs, the price of an authentic Mantle is so easily found, and they are in such demand, that its hard to believe anyone would list a Mantle they thought was legit for 99 dollars. It just doesnt add up. Why would you sell what you believe is an authentic mantle for 100 bucks when you could have easily set the buy it now for at least twice that and had buyers waiting in line if it were authentic. And just a little research would have found that out.

But the item has been removed and no one will end up with it, and thats all that matters.

forget the 99.99 reserve. You don't need to reserve a legitimate Mantle when E-bay is doing their job removing forgeries. You can list for 9.99 and you will realize 120.00-300.00 ALL DAY EVERYDAY depending on pose ( real with-out COA)
