..Macca was at his office in London today. I asked his PA/ driver (Jon Hammel) if he would sign for me, and he said he wasn't sure because they were running late and it depended a bit on the item. I had the new biography by Paul du Noyer, I was the only one there, but Paul wouldn't sign for me unfortunately. But he was polite enough, smiled, was pleased to hear I enjoyed his concert at the 02 and got in the car.

Seemingly Paul has a frame of mind that he is in work mode and these are the times that are not the best times to ask him. Plus you may have had a different reaction if you had a copy of his latest album or anything self released, its always risky asking a celebrity to sign a book about them written by somebody else just in case they don't agree with the content, by signing would be accepting to him that he agrees with the content of the book. Personally I would have turned up with his latest album. Sorry to hear that though, hope you were still happy to meet him.

I probably agree that the item to be signed is important.. but yes, very happy to meet him. Historically he has always been an excellent signer, and more importantly, he typically treats his fans very well (which is incredible considering that he will get stopped EVERY time he walks outside..and he does walk about a lot!)

What can I say Ricardo, I might have blubbered something stupid, it would be a dream to meet any of the Beatles for me. Well done, must have been still pretty amazing to say hello. I can only dream. Thanks for sharing the story.

My word, if I had to face a mob like that I'd be reluctant to sign. Reminds me of a bird's nest at feeding time. No chance of a quiet chat there!
