A local church is having a charity auction this weekend. The big item up for grabs is a guitar signed Paul McCartney. After reading the thread about bad items ending up in charity auctions and knowing zero about Beatle related items, I humbly ask for opinions on this one.

If questionable, I'll email the church to find out who supplied the items and the COAs. Other items for auction are a Sly Stallone signed boxing glove, and signed photos of John Glen, Mickey Mantle, and Charlton Heston.

Thank you!

Raising much needed funds for what? What would they have such a pressing need of money for?

It's a small church that raises funds for their food bank and other programs for the needy.

If needed here is what can be done for 11$ and they will have a answer in writing from PSA (I would suggest JSA also but they dont offer a affordable quick service). While I may appear faceless I would gladly offer them a well known and used authenticator. Lets see the other side match this. I know if I had a company selling autographs and these accusations came to light I would get every item authenticated just to shut them up... But anyhow anyone here can do this for a few bucks.

*Take the picture of the guitar here and make an ebay auction selling it buy it now for a silly price like $50,000 so there is no chance on an accidental buyer.  Maybe even say this auction is just for quick opinion to be clear.

*Use PSA quick opinion VIA their website

*Item will fail and ebay should pull it.

Its sad churches and charities have been being taken by many of these companies across the country and most refuse to listen due to it being a source of income and of course the sly salesmen with a slick story.  But in reality these are all over the country taking peoples money.

Brian,

The church can contact me if they want at steve.cyrkin@autographmagazine.com. They can send a number and we can talk on the phone if they'd prefer.

thanks a ton, Steve. I'll pass along your info.

Nice job Rock! Brian you've done all you can do. Church, it doesn't really matter where the guitar came from it is fake. Can you sell it to an unknowing person for what a real one would cost? Odds are all their items are fake if the big one is fake. You will do the right thing. Satan comes at you from all angles doesn't he? When you are looking for a company to supply memorabilia, don't listen to the company tell you how reputable they are. Find out on your own. Check out a company here! We don't profit from it. Charity Grow this site was created to help people like this Church. God is watching you.

Rock G III,

With all due respect, I'm very surprised that anyone at PSA/DNA would give anyone a free Quick Opinion...official or otherwise. First of all, they don't even get the Q.A. request without you going thru checkout and for it. Secondly, you have to agree to their terms before you submit, in order to protect them from potential liability.

Would you please send me the email you got from the person there to confirm it? I won't pubish it or mention names. I just need you to back up your claim, because some people may be depending on it.

Thanks

Here is a link hopefully the church checks out. Now to be clear these are not the same players. But the same game. Their whole line of slick talk can only work for so long.

Here is a link to the article I read pertaining this auction. At the bottom of the article is a contact person from the news paper, maybe they should be contacted as well so they can run a story on these forgeries and sway unsuspecting buyers from buying this crap.

Here are photo's of the other lovely item up for bids, lets hear what has to be said about these. Maybe Chris can chime in on the Mantle as an expert on him and I'd like to hear what Zipper has to say about the John Glenn and the Stallone is horrible.

Here is the editor of the articles contact info

thanks - already been in touch with them.

Cool. Maybe others should email the paper too this way it lights a fire. I added photo's of the other auction items for sale as well.

Maybe Roger can offer his professional opinion on the guitar on the house since this is for a church charity auction.

The Mickey Mantle, John Glenn and Paul McCartney are obvious forgeries in my opinion. I don't even know who signed the boxing glove.
