Mel Gibson

I bought this Mel Gibson autograph from autographworlds signaturepieces.com.  I purchased it in 2008 way before I knew what his autograph looked like.  I knew the company had good reputation so I went ahead and purchased this.  I have my doubts on it and contacted Bob Jones of autograph world since then to see if I could get a refund because I didn't feel comfortable with it.  He assured me that it was authentic and got in person from radio man.  This is the response he gave me "Jacob, while I agree that the signature you purchased does not match older examples, that is what Mel is giving these days. That was recently signed in NYC. It was obtained by Radio Man, a celebrity in his own right.

I'm not accusing them of anything because I know that mistakes can happen and if it is authentic then that is great too.  What do you guys think?

I agree it doesn't look anything like Mel's signature I has seen before but in person signatures can be rushed and it is very possible it is authentic. Autograph World has an outstanding reputation. If I were you, I would find out who they would approve as an independent third party that you and they will accept to render a determination. The issue sometimes is not so much on authenticity but if others agree with the fact. In a world where squiggles are authenticated, anything is possible.

I contacted Bob of autograph world last night and he said because I am uncomfortable with the autograph he will issue a refund.  I think that is really nice of him and it keeps me as a customer.

It's not something I would want in my collection, even if it was penned in Mel's hand.

Thanks.  Yes I know it's not something that a normal collector would want.  As I said in my post, I was young and stupid and purchased it without learning his signature.  I know now so if it is real great and if it's not then at least I learned my lesson
