Hello!

I´m new on this board, but have collected autographs for a few years now. It´s great to have found a place to discuss autographs! :-)

I wonder if any helpful member can give me their opinion about an MJ-autograph that I´m thinking about buying.

It´s written on a magazine dated 1999 and the signature is said to be from the same year. It comes from a AFTAL reg dealer, but which one will I keep for myself for the moment...

I really appreciate your help!

not authentic IMO

do a search on this site for michael jackson discussions and you will see many examples of authentic examples.  compare them to this one.  you do not have to be an expert to see the differences. this looks nothing like any of his well-documented signature styles.  but I am sure others will comment, perhaps they will have a different take.

IMO not authentic

I agree with Terrier, unfortunately. I don't think it's good. Besides searching this site, we have an article on him from August 2009, "Michael Jackson, Remembered in Autographs." While it doesn't cover every variation, you'll see lots of examples there:

There are many AFTAL dealers you can trust. The dealer may not even know it's questionable. A large number of fake Michael Jacksons have been sold to dealers in the UK and beyond from one source, but the one you posted isn't one of them. Yours is a different style and I'm not sure where it comes from.

I AM SORRY...THAT IS NOT GOOD...STAY AWAY FROM THAT ONE...

I asked the AFTAL-dealer how he got it and this is his answer:

"it was purchased by myself off a long time collector who got this signed himself near harrods, london after michael did a shopping trip. and this is quite an early signature unlike his late more stylish but highly faked sigature"

He also adviced me to:

"have someone you like and know to have a look at my image, for your own peace of mind"

Seems like he is convinced it's a genuine autograph, and you guys all think it's a fake.

Collecting autographs is a tricky hobby to have...

Fakeus supremus doth say I

real fake, like his story.

lol - I know! the old "this one predates his known signature styles" sale tactic. clown!
