michael never did his "L's" like that. it's not real.

Chris, Michael did do his L's that way quite often, and the "al wAys" is very typical. 

Below are some "notes" or autographs that I consider authentic that show L's in that manner as well as a few examples of the word always.

(Taj is MJ's nephew, and this was posted on Taj's twitter so its a really good example of the L being smaller and it being an absolutely authentic note).

However that said, I personally wouldn't want a note with just initials, unless it came directly from family or had good history.  Too easy to "fake" what is on this note.
