So take that Michael Jordan!!  While simple Michael Jordan signed basketballs typically sell for $1200-$1500, a basketball supposedly signed by the even-more-famous-MJ, the King of Pop Michael Jackson sold for $3700 on April 16, 2019.

But is it real?

You be the judge.

Makes tototaly sense to me as Jackson was one of the greatest basketball players of all time.... wait a minute, ah was he really that great, was he even in NBA? As he even related to Basketball at all? Sorry to say but there are way to many people with way to many brain out there! But each to their own but for that price you will get two nicely signed albums today.

It’s probably not even authentic.  But I know what you mean...MIchael Jackson had nothing to do with basketball.  And yet there have been countless celebrities who have signed baseballs and yet never had anything to do with baseball.  For a long time I never understood why somebody would want a president’s autograph on a baseball for example...but some do.  Then I read an article that claimed that any celebrity’s autograph is worth more on a baseball than many other items...for whatever reason.

The article simply tried to claim that autographs just look nicer on a baseball, and supposedly that’s why you see celebrities from many different fields signing them.  Plus, there’s a bit of the rarity factor that comes into play.  For example, Ronald Reagan signed lots of letters, but how many baseballs did he sign?

If I remember correctly, when Madonna did the halftime show for the Super Bowl, she signed an official Super Bowl football, and it sold for at least a few thousand dollars.  But then again, Madonna probably hasn’t signed too many footballs in her day.  But as you say, to each his own.

Yes but that would mean every unusual item is worth more then a artist related item and that I doubt. With baseball it is a american thing none really cares about a signed baseball here in europe for example and even a John Lennon signed baseball would bring much over 1000 $ here I guess. It would be the same if I would offer a Springsteen signed soccer ball in US. Who would care about it? If you have the chance to get close to a artist you should always have something to signe that is a work of this artist but that's just my opinion.

If K would be in the possition of jeeing asked for autographs I would happily sign records or CD's or DVD's and wouldn't do photos strachplates or baseballs at all.

I see what you’re saying.  And it’s very true...why would Europeans care at all about a signed basebal?  Many, if not most,  Europeans haven’t even heard of Babe Ruth.  He pretty much means nothing in Europe, but he’s a very iconic figure in American sports history, and even American history in general.

Very recently, an authenticated Madonna-signed baseball sold on eBay for over $2000.  But I’m in agreement with you.  I’d rather have a Madonna signed album than a signed baseball.  In fact, I’d rather have a signed Madonna book (which I have) than a signed baseball, even though apparently the signed baseball is worth more.

‘Of course, I would take a Madonna or Michael Jackson, or John Lennon autograph on anything really.

The autograph is not authentic imo. I’m really sure

I agree with you.  My guess is the buyer will eventually try to return this.  But it’s a good example that people will pay large sums of money for an MJ autograph.
