On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.

Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.

Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Thanks for your help.

THAT'S THE POINT. While slight style variations occur over a lifetime, the fundamental characteristics such as flow, stroke, slant, overall style, size and shaping of letters - ALL remain unique to each human signature...

Just like all of us, MJ's signature showed variances based on day, month, year, situation, mood, etc.
Everyone's signature shows variations (over time).. YET! There is NO variation to these Julien's-Bush signatures. They were mass produced.

ALL of the J's in Jackson are THE SAME sad uninspired swoop with a flourishless half circle poorly positioned at the top. Additionally, the "signatures" in the Julien's catalog display a wide, awkward loop on the N in Jackson. Multitudes of them. Michael DID NOT make his N's like that.

Are we to believe Michael Jackson signed hundreds of "items" for Mr. Bush all in the same day, or in a very close proximity in time? A mass production of same-shaped letters, styled in a fashion no researched Michael Jackson signature appraiser has ever seen him make?

Finally, NONE of the GENUINE MJ signatures which he produced in 2001 at the Virgin Mega Store signing bare ANY resemblance to ANY of the forgeries in Julien's auction catalog. PERIOD.

I said this very same thing to friends on facebook. Well said Wendy. They are all the same signature and they look all done at near to the same time. It is definitely the same person who signed them and that person was NOT Michael. I did not want to believe it either because I cant imagine someone ruining prized possessions. They are worth so much not even signed. And yet it seems they blatantly did this. I just dont get it. Trying to wrap my head around it. We have seen unsigned items go for large money on Juliens, but we have also seen the signed ones go for even more. So Greed has to be the motive of course. I think the big money for the Thriller Jacket is why. I think that signature was fake but it is not quite the same as these ones. Still, big question here is if you were going to try and fake signatures, wouldnt you do better than this? Ive seen some fakes that are pretty good. In fact I can fake one better than these. Look at Michael Bush signature- Ive seen some of my friends got him to sign his book. I think his own signature is similar to these fake MJ ones. So is he the actual forger? Im not so sure Juliens is just ignorant and I think they go on faith and also let greed play a role by wanting to sell so many items while the market was hot that they just took anything. I have questioned items in the past many times. The real damage here is the market and value on Mj items is going to crash, as collectors will lose faith in the market and wont be able to trust anything.

All the signed items sold by Julien in 2012 were fakes 1000%.

Not all the Michael Jackson fans worldwide know that Michael Bush used to keep making MJ suites with all the stock he has left ,and due to the fact he had love affairs directly with Darren Julien they decided to sell fake items with fake signatures.

Lady Gaga spent millions for rubbish?? Who am I to tell this??

I have bought the "Blood on the dance floor "stage worn jacket from History tour at Julien Auctions:I requested a DNA test on the jacket but result was "NONE".

I spoke then with Michael Bush himself,he replied he sent the jacket to washing machine at the end of the tour..........

They are forgers !!!!

Debbie,

Do you have a link to the video you can post?

Thanks
Debbie MichaelJoe Jackson.,
Thank you and yes you have a right to an opinion as far as I see it. Is there anyway you can post or send me a scan of any Michael Jackson autographs you may have that you feel compare to the style of the Michael Jackson signatures in question?

Here is one for you, that some others might say is far too "neat and tidy" just the opposite of the scribbled ones for sale now. I purchased this directly from the Michael Jackson World Network in 2002 after he signed it for them, along with many others. It's not congruent with other's I have, but it's his.

Thank you but I would really like to see an autograph if you have one in the style of the ones thar Steve posted on top of this discussion from the The Collection of Tompkins and Bush.

Out of my many, no nothing like those, but many all very different.

If the signature you attached, shown on the Vibe magazine is not congruent with other's you have, then I am concerned that you may have a number of forgeries in your collection - because this one is a genuine Michael Jackson signature.

Sadly, you will not find ANY that resemble this genuine signature in the Julien's-Bush auction catalog.

No question on the Vibe mag autograph, Debbie. That's a style we see a lot of. Nice.

that one looks nothing like the crap that is the subject of this discussion

To Michael Frost, How do I send you a picture?
