Michael Jordan - Real or Fake?

I have someone asking for opinions on a Jordan piece they own and I was hoping some of the people here who are familiar with his signature could comment - thank you!

I have seen this style on so many items, and I always thought it was fake, but now I'm not sure. Either this Jordan style is part of the massive forgery industry, or it's an authentic earlier Jordan style. Can anyone confirm one way or another because you see this one on many different items?
