It's good. The bottom of the J to the o is a bit atypical, but not too uncommon looking.
The guy is selling it for $650 and I talked him down to $400. Sounds too good to be true so makes me wonder. It does come wit upper deck paperwork and I called them and verified the number.
Does it come with picture verification on the UD site? The last name is definitely atypical and the ball is an indoor/outdoor model - a lot less desirable. Could be authentic, but I'd keep looking for the sure thing if I were you
I was annoyed that the ball was not a better quality ball as well. The seller is asking a lot less...$650 but I talked them down to $400 so I would sacrifice the ball quality for the price. I called UD and they verified it was legit. The ball comes with a letter from UD with the same sticker/number.
I'm not sure if they have picture verification or not. But I would make sure that UD could verify the exact make/model of the ball before you go any further...I guess I'd just want to be 100% confident since I've seen lots of forged MJ UD items. The 'J' 'o' transition is the troubling part for me as well.
In the late 90s, Wilson I/O balls were the ball of choice by UDA to have Jordan sign.
Good point. I will call them again and see what else they can verify. Yeah, the J O part is a bit off
The autograph is authentic

UDA won't know the brand or make/model of the ball because their database is so crap

That's why people are able to put uda stickers on forgeries and sell them to people who go by the sticker alone
Do you think I should go for it based on the signature?
Keep in mind that when MJ was first signing for UDA, these were primarily the balls he was signing - these Wilson indoor/outdoor balls. At that point in time, I don't believe UDA was having him sign official game balls at all. I used to have one of these Wilson balls. If you wanted a Jordan signed ball in the late 90s from UDA, this is what you got. But I've seen several of these on eBay sell for around $650-$800. So $400 would be a good deal. But I can't tell for sure how bold it is.
Always go by the signature, always
Does Upper Deck have picture verification or would the owner typically have that? I don't think the owner has a picture of him signing.
