This is an ALI poster that came ?? from a professional signing in the 90's..signed by ALi and artist Angelo Martino. Is this the real deal? the only authentication it came with is a "seal" from CDP from Kingston NY stating this is authentic....?? There is no number (such as # 100 of edition of 1200) on the poster....

Artist Angelo Marino,,sorry not Martino

I've seen numerous lithos just like this one. Every one I've seen was numbered at the bottom through 900. Here is an example of one.

I am not sur that proves it is not real...i can not see the ALI signature on the poster...on ebay..it is not shown..also the placement of where Ali signed , color pen, strokes etc..need to see an ironm clad good one....CDP claim they do not authenticate items--they WITNESS them being signed and issued a stamped seal notice "this item was witnessed"..again..that proves nothing...someone who can identify this ALi graph vs an iron clad 90's example or a close up of one of these posters signed would help..I will also take  alook on ebay to see if there is a close up signature of Ali on this exact poster.

It tuens out the ebay ad for this Poster is the only one listed and neither the signature of either Ali or the artist can not be seen in the ebay ad.

I didnt say yours was not real. I didnt offer an opinion one way or the other. Ive seen lithos like it before on numerous occassions. A shop in Phoenix has one on display. Just said every one I've seen previously was numbered. All numbered to 900. Different owners. Think thats more then just a coincidence though.

COA just guarantees authenticity like all COAs say. Just looked at a COA that comes from CDP with one of these. One I just saw DOES NOT state it was witnessed. Guarantee no good if the folks issuing COA cannot be found.

That i s  why I want to se the signature on one maybe even 2 that is 100% known to be real....And see if there are multiple differences in how Ali signed.....NOT every poster i naseries back then for some reason was numbered....I know this for a fact..I do not know this on THIS one (if there were any unnumbered LEGIT ones)

The Ali is similar to a photo he did for me the same time.Im mixed about yours, but IT IS very similar.I met him at a so. cal sports how.

The ploth thickens..the person selling this numbered ALI wrote back..he said there is NO ali signature on the NUMBERED series here...he is not sure if ALI signed a number of unnumbered ones...makes mine look a little better..we all know ALi';s signature had issues starting in the 90;s....this was CLAIMED to be signed in 1994.....so comparing 1994 or so era signatures would help..it changed a little later on.  uour legit signature so I can see it ...may give me an idea if this is real////sp the ebay poster has NO ALi sigature...

$1,500 bucks he wants an no Ali signature? LOL

I would say that it is the real deal, sorry Ive tossed my photo but it was listed here last year I believe If you search for it.

David,

This is a good question for Jim Stinson. Angelo Marino was a legitimate artist, but he's the father of Greg Marino who was the lead forger convicted in Operation Bullpen. Whether the autograph is real or not, it can put a taint on the piece.

Send Jim an email at jim@stinsonsports.com with a link to this discussion. He's a great guy and I'm sure he'll be happy to take a look and give you his opinion.

Hi Steve....intersting...I obviously did not see it signed and I am NOt an ALI expert..I wasl ucky enough to meet him twice...he signed for me once  at a book signning  about 10 years ago..but that sig was quite different than one from 1994...and the last time i saw him in NYC at a hotel dinner  he could barely stand up he shook hands..he didnt wish to sign... My GUESS is the artist signature is REAL and the ALI is 'added" since this is an unnumbered piece...but we will see...I paid a decdent amount forthis in the 90;s and cant ge ta refund...but we all know how many sports items are NOT real. :(( we will see. thank you
