James, are you Steve Jackson?? or related?? No harm in a plug for authentication services, but i have never heard of him before either.
Honestly, with everyone saying this autograph is very questionable, why don't you just return it before it's too late? Find an authentic Ali autograph instead that gives you peace of mind.
steve jackson gets $25 for his quick opinion.. James
and its a verbal opinion from steve jackson.. nothing in writing for $25.. James
FYI - THE GUY THAT RUNS MEARS AUCTION HOUSE troy - said he thought my ali robe was ok and he suggested i send it to JSA. troy was even willing to consign my item through mears auctions if it was approved by jsa... thanks, James
Any auction house would take consignments of items authenticated by JSA. That's how they make money.
Bet they wouldn't take it on consignment without the JSA authentication though. So obviously the auction house doesn't even trust Troy's opinion.
STEVE JACKSON SAID THIS ABOUT MY ALI SIGNED ROBE - HE COULD NOT RENDER AN ONLINE QUICK JUDGEMENT ON IT.. he said for me to mail it to him for him to see in person.. he gets $75 for an ali certification... so it must look pretty good to STEVE JACKSON then... James
I can't believe that you are still trying to convince yourself that this is authentic after all the opinions that were posted indicating that it is not authentic.
James,
I hate to say it, but i agree with the others. I understand wanting your item to be real so bad b/c of the deal, or b/c you have always wanted one, etc. But the fact is, that 98 percent of people who have commented have given you the thumbs down, and that includes authenticators. First were the guys on this forum. This forum is unique in that it has some of the most experienced collectors around and these guys know their graphs in some cases far better than the authenticators. Many have commented, and among them were several members that i know are extremely fluent in Ali autographs. And everyone gave you the thumbs down or couldnt tell.
Now at this point, you need to understand that when an authenticator tells you they cant render an opinion. That is definetly NOT a good thing. At the very least what it means is that the signature is either a very very poor example, or the authenticator isnt familiar with that graph. It seems everyone you have asked has told you it was bad, or told you they couldnt render. With the exception of one or two people who i have never heard of and who probably are in par with Chris Morales. This signature is so far from base that at best it could never be authenticated legitimately b/c of the surface and poor quality, and at the worst, it could end up in a place like coaches corner.
I honestly was shocked when i saw that you bought the item after all the opinions you got. But each to his own. My advice at this point is to return your item while you have time, b/c more than likely it is fake, and at best would have little to no resale value except on a place like coaches corner. Their are plenty of authentic Ali items out their and can be had easily for that kind of money. Maybe not a robe, but something nice. Dont let them rip you off. Take this as a lesson, get your money back, and go from their. If you dont, i fear that you will be stuck with this piece for the rest of your life, even once you realize its not authentic.
Im not being hard on you, i just think you need to get a refund asap. It really is that important. If you have 500 bucks to spare then no biggy, but thats your good hard money, and you deserve better. Dont let the bad guys pull one over on you.
