We now have a Musician-Direct Autograph Sales Forum where you can post individual discussions of new offerings. It's a big change—and a big improvement. We closed this discussion after 8 years but it will always be available to read.

The new system has been in place for 2 months now and it's working well.

This video shows you how easy the new forum is to use.

You can follow the forum and be notified of new signings exclusively! And you can enter a musician's name in the forum's search box and find any discussions about them.

Be sure to click the Follow link at the bottom of the list of discussions.

Try it...I think you'll like it.

Though I recall a member posting a blog asking about this a while ago, I could not relocate it for my purpose in this discussion.

It can be nice when one stumbles upon a musician's shop (via their website), to see that they are selling their autographs. I figured this could grow as a wee database for listing those musicians who partake in this.

I recently recieved a couple press photos signed in ballpoint from John Mayall's website (http://www.johnmayall.com/merch.html). I am also aware that you can purchase signed CDs from Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits(http://peternoone.com/store/). John 5 ( formerly Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie guitarist) sells various items signed, with an option to dedicate.

So, does anyone else know of this being done by other musicians?

I like the new format

Josh,

We have 31,039 discussions in forums alone. That doesn't include roughly 5,000 discussions in groups. Maybe 5 of those discussions cover almost everything in their forum. Let's be generous.

If there were 10 discussions like this big one, that would be 3 out of 10,000 discussions. And one of the other ones is going to be changed to individual discussions, too.

Why is what I'm suggesting stupid if it's how 31,030 out of 31,039 discussions do it?

I think the new format works perfectly, people just don't understand it.

I agree don’t really see the issue, it takes seconds to post either way

Apart from people are not posting the items they were like on the old thread.

People don’t want to start new threads time and time again .

I guess I just don't understand it.

What I understood was this. Every few days, I'd look at THIS thread, and find out what bands were selling autographed CDs. And, some people would talk about autopen, or not getting CDs, or whatever. It was interesting AND informative.

Now, I don't know where to go, and see whhat bands are selling new merch, with signatures. Somebody point me in that direction.

Or, will the new posts just show up on the home page?

Thread is here you just need to follow and if you comment on a particular listing (like thanks) only the author gets your update as well as anyone else who commented, ie you will get all updates afterwards for that particular item...anyone who doesn’t comment (ie doesn’t interest them) doesn’t get the updates for that particular item but if you follow the main thread you will get all new listings (just not the other stuff like auto pen etc unless you comment on the new listing) simples

Thanks, Steve

Josh,

Did you watch the video I posted as a reply in the Def Leppard discussion?

I'll do another quick one.

Josh,

This video will show you how to get the info you need from the forum. Click the square lower right to enlarge.

There's another one focused on posting discussions.
